Hill & Wilkinson Completes Parkland COPC Facility in Grand Prairie, Texas

ParklandGP Exterior 12 RRichardson, Texas – General contractor Hill & Wilkinson has completed a $7.6-million, Community Oriented Primary Care Clinic for the Parkland Health & Hospital System.  Located in Grand Prairie, Texas, the new 33,000-square-foot facility was named after E. Carlyle Smith, Jr., an architect, state legislator, Grand Prairie resident and former Parkland board member and designed by Leo A Daly.

The facility consists of three primary groups of services: Dental, Women’s and Infants Specialty Hospital and General Care. The dental component of the facility is set up to accommodate five procedure chairs along with office support space.  The WISH portion of the facility includes a large breast-feeding instructional room, three women’s health exam rooms , two shared medical appointment exam rooms  and two combination SMA/WHE exam rooms.  The remainder of the facility consists of 38 general exam rooms with support rooms that include an X-ray suite, point of care testing lab and sonogram rooms.

The facility also includes more than 20 physician and support staff offices and a large conference and education room.  The 4.8-acre site has 285 parking spaces along with five onsite blue emergency phones. The E. Carlyle Smith, Jr. Health Center was built to serve 40,000 patient visits annually. The facility allows Parkland to provide basic and preventive care and health education outreach to the community while relieving patient congestion that the main hospital campus can experience.

Hill & Wilkinson’s project team included Healthcare Group Manager Billy Large, Project Engineer Brook Stoy and Superintendent John Harris.
