Illinois Governor Quinn Tours Healthcare Facilities in Southern Illinois -- Announces $3 Million Capital Grant for Hospital

Highlights New Law Benefiting Rural Hospitals

BENTON, ILL -- Governor Pat Quinn toured several healthcare facilities in southern Illinois to highlight a new law that will benefit critical access hospitals, especially in rural parts of the state, and nursing home reforms.

“It is critical that all Illinoisans have access to the medical care they need to live healthy lives. It is also very important that our most vulnerable citizens are kept safe when receiving care at a hospital or nursing home,” said Governor Quinn. “We must continue to do everything we can, including enacting good legislation, to improve our healthcare system.”

North Shore-LIJ and VillageCare to Open Urgent Care Center in Lower Manhattan, Sign Agreement to Offer Other Health Services

NEW YORK -- The North Shore-LIJ Health System and VillageCare announced a clinical affiliation agreement to deliver a range of new health services in Lower Manhattan, including a proposal to open and operate a 24-hour urgent care center.

The urgent care center could open in the early fall if approved by the state. The urgicenter will be located at 121A W. 20th Street in a two-story building where VillageCare operates a primary care center on weekdays and Saturdays.

Concord Engineering Begins Construction on $34M Project to Cut Energy Consumption at University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro

Concord Engineering Group was awarded engineering, procurement and construction management for a $34 million project at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro (UMCPP) that will provide a carbon emission reduction equivalent to taking 1,900 cars off the road per year.

NRG Thermal, LLC, a subsidiary of Princeton based NRG Energy, Inc., owns and will operate the plant that is now under construction. This comprehensive system, referred to as CHP+NRGSM, includes three 24,000-lb/hr. boilers, three 1,000-ton electric chillers, a 700-ton steam absorption chiller, a 4.6 MW gas turbine generator, a heat recovery steam generator, emergency backup generators, and a Thermal Energy Storage (TES) system for off-peak chilled water production.
