University of Colorado Hospital Moving Forward with $400 Million Expansion

Emergency services double with addition of second inpatient tower

AURORA, Colo. – University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) has announced ambitious plans to add a second inpatient tower to meet what has become an enormous demand for its services. At a cost of about $400 million, the project brings more patient beds, more emergency care and more jobs to the Anschutz Medical Campus and the state.

Shands Cancer Hospital First In Southeast To Receive Gold Leed Certification

Shands_Hospital_exteriorGAINESVILLE, Fla. -- June 7 -- Shands HealthCare has turned a green initiative into gold.

Shands officials learned today that the Shands Cancer Hospital at the University of Florida has become the first hospital in the Southeast to be awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for its environmental and energy-efficient features. Only four hospitals in the country currently are Gold LEED certified and fewer than 100 nationwide have LEED certification.

Construction Starts on New ER at Catskill Regional Medical Center

Catskill Regional Medical Center (CRMC) will begin construction next month on its $6 million expansion of its Emergency Department after a formal ground breaking ceremony last week at the hospital’s main campus.

CRMC’s new Emergency Department will more than double in size, expanding from 7,500 square feet to 17,500 square feet, and will dramatically enhance the level of service by treating more patients and shortening visit times. The number of fast track bays for minor injuries will be increased from four to eight. Additionally, the current eight acute care bays and one mental health bay will be expanded and redistributed to sixteen bays.  The new department is expected to be open next summer.

New Owensboro Medical Health System Hospital Groundbreaking Saturday, June 5th

OWENSBORO, KY., June 3 -- Owensboro Medical Health System will officially break ground for its 447-bed replacement hospital June 5th with a 5K Walk-Run, activities for families and a ceremony that includes participation from OMHS Board of Directors, employees, physicians, several community groups and elected officials, including US Rep. Brett Guthrie.
