Kindred Healthcare Signs Definitive Agreements to Acquire Five Hospitals and Three Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers

Facilities are located in growoing southern California and Dallas-Fort Worth cluster markets

LOUISVILLE, KY -- Kindred Healthcare, Inc. (the “Company”) (NYSE: KND) today announced that its subsidiaries have signed a definitive agreement to acquire five long-term acute care (“LTAC”) hospitals from Vista Healthcare, LLC (“Vista”) for a purchase price of $180 million in cash.

Excitement is Building for New Dean Clinic in Edgerton, Wisc.

Construction on the 10,000 square-foot clinic set to begin in November

Edgerton CampusDean Clinic is pleased to announce plans for a clinic to be built adjacent to the new Edgerton Hospital.  The eight month construction project is expected to be complete in July 2011, with plans to open along with the new hospital.

Sartaj Dhillon, MD, Dean Clinic Internal Medicine has been a practicing physician in the Edgerton area since 1995. “This is a big deal for a small community,” says Dr. Dhillon.  “People don’t have to travel far to get great care in a great facility.  ”

Sutter Health Poised to get Approval of New Hospital

Key vote Aug. 24; construction could start in matter of weeks

SANTA ROSA – Nine years after its first proposal, Sutter Health is near the final go-ahead for a new hospital that will replace services at the aged Chanate facility.

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors last week unanimously agreed the Sacramento-based health giant’s proposal was in line with the 1996 Health Care Access Agreement – the last significant hurdle in the process save for a final vote Aug. 24. That vote could be included as a consent agenda item, which would involve little if any debate.

Nemours and Skanska Hold Topping Out Ceremony

Nemours_TopoutORLANDO, Fla -- Nemours, one of the nation’s premiere pediatric health systems, along with Skanska USA Building Inc., construction manager for the Nemours Children’s Hospital (NCH) project, today held a topping out ceremony to celebrate significant progress on a vision to improve health care for children and families in Central Florida by placing the final beam on the superstructure. The 630,000-square-foot children’s hospital, located in the heart of Lake Nona’s Medical City, will include 95 beds and serve as the core of a 60-acre pediatric health campus featuring a children’s clinic, emergency department, diagnostic and ambulatory programs along with education and research centers. Nemours plans to open the $380 million hospital in 2012.

Turner Awarded $72 Million Contract to Provide Pre-Construction and Construction Management Services for St. Mary’s Hospital for Children

Project Will Add Amenities and Enhance Patient Care

NEW YORK -- Turner Construction Company, the nation’s largest builder of healthcare facilities, has been awarded a $72 million contract to provide pre-construction and construction management services for the modernization of St. Mary’s Hospital for Children in Bayside, N.Y. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2013.
